I am starting this post bemused with the fact that most human beings follow certain illogical views. After all,I was also following a lot of these quite sometime ago.
Ok! let me stop beating around the bush and come to the point here. Not long ago, I yearned to buy a nice pair of goggles for myself. That was during my college days.I could not afford it then. after I started earning, I bought a good and stylish pair of sunglasses.it cost me around 1350 INR.Initially, I bought it with the intention to show off. A lot of my friends had a mindset that sunglasses are to be worn either when you go on a bike or on occassions when you go out with a girl. Pedestrians with sunglasses always get a weird look.As if sunglasses are made only for people who go around in bikes, they get admiring looks.I had an argument with a guy in the sunglass issue and he surprised me with the following logic.I am putting the same word he uttered.
“Machi (slang for a friend in Tamil) sunglasses suit only bikers because they drive at high speeds and chances of eye getting all the dust is high”.
What I wonder is,
1.aren’t pedestrians walking on the same road where the pollution levels are the same?
2.Aren’t sunglasses used for eye protection?(protection against UV rays and polllution)
3.Who in the world has told that sunglasses are to be worn only by bikers?
when I asked him, there was no answer.I understood that people have a lot views which are completely illogical.Atleast, I am pretty sure that I will have a little of them.
Now a days, I have started wearing my glasses when I ride my bicycle and I have started to enjoy a lot of gazes from gals. This way, I am getting a few!
hehe!:-)

The thin line between the convenience and luxury
How do we know what is luxury and what is convenience? It is not obvious and its the perspective of the people you deal with.
Is it convenience or a luxury to drive a car, having your dinner at Taj Coromandel?
When my friend used to be a student his main way of travel is by Indian Railways. Now if he wants to come to my city he takes the inter city flights. Not that he is damn rich, only just because of the convenience he gets in 2 hours flight over 24 hours of train journey.
Anyway, I am losing out because of your new “cool in the sun”. I asked you to leave your glasses at home, I have to go out this noon or get me my own pair of glasses for the money you owe me. Sun is too harsh on my skin these days.
hmm. this made me think too.
well i’m a guy who cant wear sun glasses when on the bike coz my glasses wont fit thru my helmet. and if not on the bike, i have to wear a pair of lenses and then only i can wear my sun glasses. phew. to wear that pair of lenses i will take half an hour. i’m unlucky to have a sunglasses and lenses worth 3k. i seldom use them.
like balaji said, there is a thin line between convenience and luxury. It represented according to people’s mindset, perspective and money power. Drinking wine in a five star hotel, i would say its luxury. But flying down to kerala instead of taking a 24+ hour train so that i can reach home faster and save time in my 5 day vacation, i would say its convenience.
come to the point. i think sunglasses can be both. its convenient and also for pisthu…
hey oomz! you have a point here to say! I agree it. But my post was all about those people who say
“sun glases potta shokku mame shokku .it’s cool machi cool” .
cool in the sense of showing off in front of gals !
whatever, I am bothered about my eyes getting fried up in sun rather than a gal looking at me!
ok!ok! don’t pelt stones at me. May be, i can put it this way, I am more bothered about my eye protection and very very little bothered about showing off!
hehe!:-)
p.s.:- Hey Balaji! You have used my glasses more than a dozen times. If I had rent it on a per day basis of 100 INR, then the calculation comes like this. (read like Koundamani’s dialogue in Ullathai Alli thaa)
“one by two,two by three, three by four-total 1500 INR edu man”
So you owe me money now.
i told u. may be i’m in ur rival gang. i think donning a pair of sun glasses can do both jobs. it would help me protect my eyes (like i did when i was in kuwait. if not my sun glasses, my eyes would have become fried bajji), or it would also be a style statement. (like i use it when i’m in kerala but driving a car not bike and going to weddings)
hmmmmmmmm! Whose car is that anyway?
ahem. pls dont shout. mera reputation….. u could have asked this question in a private chat room. anyways its my dad’s car in which i roam around when i’m in kerala
hey hey ! hey hey!Arasiyalla ithellam satharanam appa!
Hey kary, i have seen you taking your sunglasses in the evening,,, so what does that mean (i dont see sun after 6ish:) . Was that really for convenience then or ??????
may be to protect his eyes from darkness
During night times, I use it to protect from the dust! this should clear your doubt!
I got my own now. I waited for a long time for him to buy me one, but he never did.
