Shortcut keys really make life easier when working with Windows environment. One of my favourites is the cntrl+enter key combination which adds http:// .com to the word when typed in browser. Last week, at my office PC, one of my friends complained that cntrl+enter does not work in IE anymore. When asked whether he worked around to find what happened, his answer was to reinstall IE.
Gosh! I will never try reinstalling IE. I have had miserable experiences in that. Googled for some work around and Bingo! there was one. the option use in-line Autocomplete for web addresses was unchecked.
After checking the same, it worked fine. It’s such a pain to use IE without short-cut keys. After all, working in IE in itself is a pain.
P.S.:-
the moral of the story is, Don’t ask people, for solutions, who uninstall and reinstall everything if there is a problem. If possible try using a good browser other than IE.

i dont think the problem you have described here has anything to use with the pains of using IE. as a web developer i have faced problems in IE coz of its non compliance with the W3c standards. But as a user browsing sites, i havent had any problems in IE and lemme tell u, i still use IE to browse sites. I’m not starting an argument whether IE or Firefox is better. I have no say in that now. But for me i should face difficulties as a user in something to go for an alternative. I use firefox and IE when i’m developing a website, but as a user i’m happy with IE. Now your problem is that you broke IE urself and tried to fix it without knowing what u r really upto. Instead you should really tried to know what is the problem from a person who knows about it.
You had a hero honda Splendor. Its considered as one of the good things happened to the two wheeler industry. But imagine you put some low quality oil or petrol in it and it gave problems and got it broke by giving to a un authorised work shop instead of repair. Now who will you blame? splendor for not accepting ur low quality oil?
Hey! Understand first of all that Firefox is a better browser when compared to IE 6.0. This purely is based on the features. that’s my view on IE and Firefox.I am writing this in the point of a user as I am not into webdesigning as you guys are.
I agree with your analogy here. the main point I was trying to make with my post was how people uninstall and reinstall everything for such a small issue. It applies to most software we use. And the pain part about IE from me was because I am not a big fan of it and I am a avid Firefox fan. I have the rights to hail and spread firefox.
quoting your lines
“I have no say in that now. But for me i should face difficulties as a user in something to go for an alternative.”
I have had troublesome experiences with IE which made me to switch to alternatives.
clears everything?
ok sorry
