Raj,

I really enjoyed reading it. Real good one. :-) I always liked your way of narrating stories. Simple, yet powerful. :)

Yes, they don't leave voice message. But I don't return if some unknown caller does not leave a message. Did you ever get a chance to read
பிழைப்பு ?

Raj,

My first job was that of a telemarketer selling mobile phone plans to US people. I have had enough Fs and Bs :-( from people who were in DNCR but our system failed to screen them out. I quietly listened to them all and put the number in our DNCR. Also there were a few people who listened to me patiently till I finished my initial telemarketing script and politely :-) asked me to add them to our DNCR. That job experience made me to be more patient in handling the telemarketing calls I receive now. One more thing here to note is that a friend of mine handles these call in a different way. Whenever a receives a call from a telemarketer, he stops them and tells them that he lost his job. The caller gets shocked and says sorry and hangs up. My friend says that this has worked in many scenarios and he never gets calls again from the same company. May be they close this call as Not worth calling again. :-P
And interestingly, a telemarketer is trained never to leave a voice mail. One good reason is the person who is being called may be on the DNCR and the caller's system missed to screen his number and suppose the caller leaves a voicemail, chances of the called suing the company is high. That too with an evidence in hand. ;-)

There is an another option, DNRC. Leave the unknown callers to voice mail system. When you receive the voice message, if you think it is an unsolicited call, then Do Not Return the Call :-))

[BTW, good and informative write-up !]
