P.S.:- I am living in Burbank now. This is my second home for nearly a year.

I have been a bit busy with work that I was unable to concentrate much on my personal life. I goofed up with some of my relationships. But there are people who understood and stood by me during this patch of my life. Hearty thanks to those souls.

I managed to catch up with quite a few movies during this period. Watched Tamil M.A.,Pollathavan,Oram Po. Oram Po did not impress me much as the other two did.

November passed by, I have not done anything in my blog.  But I learnt  that it’s time I learn how to manage time efficiently.

P.S. – Hope this post will give me a kickstart for a new ride in the blogosphere.

We miss your blog. What happened to you? Why are you not blogging regularly?

One fine morning, I received tonnes of such SMS and emails. I was slowly replying to them all. That is when my dad switched off the fans and reminded me that I have slept for twelve hours straight. Yet another weekend dream.

Pondering over a cup of filter coffee, I was curious to think what made me a irregular blogger or what made people to forget that I own a blog. Here it goes. And what is the purpose of my blogging.

a. No one reads my blog. My blog is a total failure. My blog does not interest anyone. I should not blog anymore.

b.Everyone is busy to have missed it and will start patronizing my blog once I start blogging again.

I always wanted to write diary or a record of my life’s happenings. Would it not be great to look over it again when I get old? I don’t want to fool anyone with such a answer. My intention of blogging started with Umesh and Balaji. I thought if Umesh and Balaji can blog, why not I? It’s kind of egotic. But that is how I started blogging. Through most my posts, I wanted to get attention or rather I tried to seek recognition. So, the whole purpose of my blog was recognition seeking. I don’t want to hide it or feel shy in saying it.

Is it right or wrong?

Some people blog for recognition seeking. Some blog for passing time. Some blog to vent their energy on the things they are passionate about. Which is right and which is wrong? This is again a relative thing and cannot be answered or rather judged. So, I have started blogging again.

What’s your purpose of blogging?

P.S.:- This post is just to break the hiatus and to show people that I do think over a cup of filter coffee and I do sleep for 12 hours straight on a weekend.

Why did I start blogging?

Umesh and Balaji were early into the blogosphere and I did not want to be too far behind them. All my life, I have quit a lot of things without pursuing them with the same fervor I started with. When I started blogging, I feared of quitting from this one fine day. Fear mounted when Balaji informed me that he spent dollars for hosting and domain registration. The fear kept me going and here I am boasting about a year in the blogosphere.

The initial days of blogging

In the initial days or months of blogging I changed the themes frequently, put in all the ads available ( thinking of becoming a millionaire someday ), without bothering about the content much. To be precise, I was into gimmicks and graphics instead of concentrating on content. A day never passed by without me checking the ad vendor for the dollars accumulated in my account. The thing never happened and I stopped checking it. Still, I login and see how well I have done on ad space.

Goof ups

When I started writing about things of public interest, got a few human visitors apart from the regular bots. Till date, my posts on Satyam has attracted the maximum number of visitors to my blog when compared to other posts. A few of my posts instigated anger and my blog became a place for people to vent their anger.

Shikha inspired me to start the music quiz section with her own section on song lyrics creating waves. Umesh inspired me to write humorous posts. Badri got introduced in my life. Balaji encouraged and supported me all the time. Deepak pestered me with IMs on the idleness of my blog. Gayu stood by me and commented on almost all posts. Sarayu, one of my early and regular commenters encouraged me to write more. Priya was always a silent visitor and she pitched in with her advice offline. Sabaree, Magesh, Ananth spread the word about my blog at office. Thank you all!

I learned a lot this one year and found that I ain’t a quitter at least in blogging.

After a ton typos and million full stops, I am blogging because I want to express my life and feelings to this world. After all, I am a man and not a super man or What a man.

• I don’t hesitate to sing irrevelant of the location I am in. I love my karaoke sessions at home where I mute the TV and sing songs. Gayu and mom are always the mute spectators to the show.
• I like to grow long hair (Dhoni style) during summer and cut it short during winter. Mom always complains about this.
• While I was in college , used collect a lot of film song books ( paattu book or பாட்டு புக்) and sing songs with my friends sitting at the last bench. Have a few of them with me now.
• I used to read novels and stories on the eve of important university exams.
• I don’t hesitate mixing up food and eating them at one shot. ie; I mix up Sambhar, Rasam and curd rice together and eat at one shot. Dad always complains that it will end up in a chemical reaction. Who is a chemical engineer ?
• I wear sunglasses while I ride a bi-cycle. (This does not seem weird to me. I mentioning it here as I get a few strange looks from people).

Step 1 – Time to switch your blogger account to beta

Only a few users of blogger now have the previlege to switch to beta. If you are lucky enough, you’ll see a blue box in the sidebar of your blogger dashboard highlighting the new Blogger in beta. Click the learn more link and blogger will walk you step by step on switching you to beta. If you don’t find it, don’t regret. Remember that it is still in beta.

Step 2 – Time to change the site feed settings

Click on settings and click Site feed. Select yes under “Publish Site Feed”. It is upto you to decide on the content to be syndicated. You can either leave it full or short. Full will put the entire content of each post in your site feed, while Short only includes an excerpt from the beginning of each post. The None option turns your site feed off entirely. Click on the Advanced mode link. In Advanced Mode there are options for three different types of feeds. They are Blog posts feed , Blog Comment feed , Per-Post Comment Feeds. Select Full or Short depending on your preference and save the settings. You are almost done.

Step 3 – Time to Publish these site feeds

You have setup the feed for blog posts, feed for blog comments and also per-post comment feeds. It’s time to show the world that your feeds are ready to be subscribed.

where your blogger account will replace the beta.blogger.com

For example,

Also, add links of the Blog post feed and Blog comment feed in your sidebar to help people subscribe them easily.
