A lot of my friends use blogspot for their daily blah-blahs and only few of them know that blogger has finally come out with the feeds for comments in their beta version. It is better late than never. I hope the below step by step, how to guide will help to set up the blogger account (beta) to publish the comments feed.

Step 1 – Time to switch your blogger account to beta

Only a few users of blogger now have the previlege to switch to beta. If you are lucky enough, you’ll see a blue box in the sidebar of your blogger dashboard highlighting the new Blogger in beta. Click the learn more link and blogger will walk you step by step on switching you to beta. If you don’t find it, don’t regret. Remember that it is still in beta.

Also see Blogger’s help page on switching to beta .

Step 2 – Time to change the site feed settings

Click on settings and click Site feed. Select yes under “Publish Site Feed”. It is upto you to decide on the content to be syndicated. You can either leave it full or short. Full will put the entire content of each post in your site feed, while Short only includes an excerpt from the beginning of each post. The None option turns your site feed off entirely. Click on the Advanced mode link. In Advanced Mode there are options for three different types of feeds. They are Blog posts feed , Blog Comment feed , Per-Post Comment Feeds. Select Full or Short depending on your preference and save the settings. You are almost done. :-)

Following is a example URL for the Blog comment feed
The URL for the Blog comment feed is:

http://www.beta.blogger.com/feeds/comments/full

where your blogger account will replace the beta.blogger.com

For example,

Comment feed URL for netcraze.blogspot.com .

Also, add links of the Blog post feed and Blog comment feed in your sidebar to help people subscribe them easily.

pass the word to your blogger friends. :-)

Jungle book

Who will forget the jungle book? One of the most viewed Indian TV series for children of 1990s. If I still have my memory cells working, I would say that it was aired in DD1 (Doordarshan National) on every Sunday at 11.00 AM. There we were sitting in front of the TV for the next half an hour unmoved. I used to sing the title of the jungle book series by heart that time. All the characters in the series tied us up in front of the TV every week. The series was fictional and had a lot of interesting lessons of life. I did not know it as I was kid then. Now that I watched jungle book after a long time in a DVD, I realize it. Salute to Rudyard Kipling for such a wonderful story. I have listed out some of the characters I remember below.

Mowgli – the small boy with his boomerang tied up in his underwear and he happened to be the hero of the story.

Baloo – the bear

Bhageera – the black panther

Shere Khan – the tiger

The one I like the most was Baloo – the bear. He was really cute and always protected Mowgli. Which character do you like?

Here is an Odeo of the title song sung by me.

Thanks for putting up with my harsh voice. :-) I apologise if the lyrics is wrong. It will be great if you can sing the jungle book lyrics for me. I will display it here and will have people rate it. Game? :-)

Where is Olulu?

Was going through the google analytics for karthickraghavan.com. Something was unusual. I had a visitor from Olulu (See picture).Olulu Where the heck is this place? If I still remember my middle school geography correctly, it is in the pacfic ocean. This I say after seeing the map. hehe! :-)

Do people have access to the internet from the middle of the sea? Is Olulu an island? No answers yet. I am going nuts. :-(
P.S. :- I had a visitor from Istanbul (Turkey) and Lucknow (Australia). I never knew there was a Lucknow in Australia. How poor I am in geography!

You are not tagged? Weird!

My Alter-ego: Umesh is tagged.

Me : huh?

My Alter-ego : So is Balaji. Are you not tagged?

Me : What do you mean by that?

My Alter-ego: Have not you read Shikha’s comment about the online game “Tag you’re it” ? What are you waiting for?

Me : Yeah! What am I waiting for?

Here I am tagged ….

I am thinking about…

  • How to make people accept the concept of no religion, no caste and no differences?

I want to…

  • talk less and work more. It is too difficult.

I wish…

  • I had a car. It’s really difficult to commute for hours together in Chennai’s transport system.
  • My life partner is a singer.

I hear…

  • to Ilayaraaja’s music all the time.

I wonder…

  • how people are put up with me?

I regret…

  • no regrets as of now.

I am

  • half God and half animal-like.Like the verse in the Aalavandhan movie song “kadavul paathi, mirugam paathi”.

கடவுள் பாதி மிருகம் பாதி கலந்து செய்த கலவை நான்.”

I dance…

  • when I am alone at home.

I sing…

  • Ilayaraaja’s songs all the time.

I cry…

  • at times.

I am not always…

  • silly.

I make with my hands…

  • a small paper boat. That’s the level of skill I possess.

I write…

  • at karthickraghavan
  • mails (my work makes me write more than a hundred daily).

I confuse…

  • when I am confused..

I need…

  • a partner in life who can take me as who I am.

And finally…

  • I am tagged. :-)

I was curious to see a lot of websites with FavIcons in the address bar and also in the favorites toolbar. I wanted create a FavIcon for my website with a decent picture of mine. Googling favicon creator fetched me a lot of results. The first result helped me to accomplish my task.

Customise Bloglines blogrolls in WordPress

I use bloglines as my feed reader. I am quite comfortable with it because it is online and so I don’t have to worry about missing any of the feeds, as I am used to read blogs both at office and home. My blogroll in bloglines can be shared publicly and there is an option to mark certain feeds as private so that they are not shown public.

I was pondering all day today on how to customise bloglines blogroll in my weblog. I could not figure it out as it required expertise in php and css. Oops! I am not an expert in any of these though. As always, I turned towards Balaji and he came to the rescue. He took a few hours and coded up my bloglines blogrolls seen in the sidebar. It has come out well. Everytime, I add or remove a feed in bloglines, the blogroll displayed in my weblog is going to pick it up and update it automatically. Good job man! Thanks a lot!

If anyone is looking out for code, mail me at karthickdotraghavanatyahoodotcom.
