Recently, I have see many instances of this browser hijack in many machines. People are going nuts with this infection and here I am nearing the solution to wipe it off from the machines which are infected.

Browse and Explorer Hijack ?

Yes. IE gets hijacked after the infection and whenevr IE is opened up, home page gets hijacked and re-routed to http://www.lastchaos.in.th/ .

Hacked by Moozilla

Apart from the browser hijack, it hacks the windows explorer. In a infected machine, left double click will not work to open the drives under the windows explorer. Right click and open or explore will do that. So, it hijacks the IE and also the windows explorer.

I stumbled upon a small extension for firefox which helps to scrap in Orkut. Install the orkut scrap replier using small window extension. Login to your orkut account and navigate to your scrapbook. Left click on the photo of your buddy and scrap it all the way. Happy scrapping! :)

bitten by the google bug

Life has become so easy after I learned to use google search (courtesy : Balaji). I wouldn’t say that I am a best user of google. I will rate myself above average.

A few of my colleagues know that I use google to the max. The other day, we were chatting about FM stations available in chennai which brought up a small argument. One of my mangers was around and he started commenting to a colleague.

” I know the next thing he (me) is gonna do is google out FM stations in chennai“.

I was done with it before he had finished his statement. :-)
How do you think google helps you? Do you love it or hate it? Scribble here!
P.S.:-

I still remember an episode when I found out that people search for a lot of curious things. Thanks to IE’s Auto-complete, I was searching for something starting with the letter S and the first suggestion from IE was Shakila (the most famous malayalam actress) . :-) A die-hard Shakila fan has not spared office PC too.

My experience with the Video iPod

I got a new iPod video yesterday and I am really amazed at the sound and picture quality. iPOd videoThis is a gift to me from my sister and brother-in-law. Thanks guys! I owe you a lot. :-)
I have a few video song DVDs and I wished that I could load them up in my iPod easily. A search on the internet found me Videora iPod converter. I would say that it is the best video converter software I have ever used. It is so simple to use and it simply works the way I want it to be. IPod plays only a few file formats and Videora easily converts .vob files to .mp4 files in minutes. After converting the files to mp4 format, I fired up iTunes and loaded all the videos into my iPod. The clarity and sound synchronisation was amazing. I am really hooked up with the videos videora churns out.
I would not prefer to use ITunes for mp3 songs as it locks up the songs once they are into the iPod. A quick search on the internet fetched me yamipod. The only freeware for songs management in iPod using a PC. Spent a few minutes with yamipod and got myself familiar into creating playlists and loading up all my mp3 collection. No more worries about music getting locked in iPod. Yamipod has both the option to copy music into and from iPod without locking up the music. And moreover, it simply works in z PC. All my praise goes to Tomas , the guy who coded this small application. Kudos Tomas! :-)

As I wanted to do more with my iPod than music and video , I worked a bit to integrate my google calendar and tada! did it . Downloaded all my calendars from google into the calendars folder in iPod. Now I have the FIFA Worldcup 2006 schedule , ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 Schedule , my office shift schedule etc;
A few more hours on the internet taught me to use the notes feature in iPod. I stumbled upon a site which hosts free iPod eBooks. A few clicks got the ebooks like How to Speak and Write Correctly by Joseph Devlin , The World War and What was Behind It by Louis P. Benezet (86) into my iPod. The one feature I have yet to dig is the photos. I hope to work on it by tomorrow morning.

Overall, I will say that iPod video is really a awesome product with extra feture other than music and video. Only thing is that, people should know how to and where to find hacks and resources for it. :-)

adsense – adds sense?

When I initially started this blog , I was very much attracted to the concept of adsense and making money out of it. I started to explore the world of google adsense and added all the codes and buttons given in my google adsense account. I even went ahead and signed up with Yahoo , Amazon as affiliate and filled up my site with their buttons too. After all these , I went to bed thinking that I will be a billionaire or atleast a millionaire in a few months. :-)
In the next few days, reality struck and I understood that filling up site with adsense codes and buttons does not bring visitors and it is the content that brings people to the site. My site looked terrible with buttons and ads flashing all over the place. Took help from Balaji and cleaned it up a bit. Now, I just have a single adsense code in my site. I don’t want to irritate my visitors anymore. Now I feel that adsense definitely adds sense.

BSNL offers Unlimited Broadband for Rs.900 per month

Now BSNL offers unlimited broadband services for Rs.900 per month from May 1 2006. It got my attention as I am one of the users of Data One broadband services offerred by BSNL. It is a happy and great news. I expected this to happen a few months before. :-)

I checked with Data One customer service at 1800-424-1600 and confirmed the same with them. But, I really hate BSNL’s way of changing plans for existing customers. A lady at the call centre informed me that change of plans can be done only after filing a form with the local telephone exchange. Moreover, the plan change will come into effect only by the next billing cycle. And the irony is that India’s largest broadband service provider does not have a web portal for switching plans. Typical government business practices.

Whatever, I am happy that they have brought the sought over change at last. Here is the advertisement from BSNL’s site.
